The Salt lodge is a beautiful grade II listed house located just off the popular Downalong area of St Ives, Cornwall. We aim to meet the needs of all of our guests, however, due to the nature of the property this can make access for guests with limited mobility difficult and the house is unsuitable for wheelchair users.

The Salt lodge is located on a level road with moderately level access to the shops, restaurants and beaches.

The kitchen and lounge/dining room are located on the ground floor together with ground floor wc, with two king size bedrooms one with en suite, one 3 sleeper bunk room and one twin bedroom together with one bathroom.


Should you require a Tesco food delivery or for a satellite navigation system, the postcode is TR26 1PQ. There are two great co-operative food stores in town amongst other dheliís and independant food stores also we do recommend the Norway stores 32 Back Road West. They have just about everything to get you going including the local and national papers. We love them.

  • The Slat Lodge is located on a slightly narrow road with easy access by car.
  • The nearest beach is Bamaluz and is located 100 metres away. Porthgwidden, Porthmeor and The Harbour are located between 200-400 metres away.
  • The main centre of St Ives is located 500 metres away.
  • The nearest shop is located 300 metres away, the famous Norway store.
  • The nearest supermarkets the Norway stores and two cooperative stores although† Tesco is located 1 mile away.

  • The house has gas central heating, guests are able to control the timing of this.

  • The house has a brand new travel cot (stored in the loft ) and a high chair in the dining area.†
  • The house is strictly non-smoking with no pets.
  • There are mains smoke detectors and a fire procedure in place.

  • Please be advised that arrival time is strictly 3pm onwards.
  • Unloading is located at the house and is accessed by St Eia street (Beech stuff is left at the front of the house).
  • On arrival there will be a welcome basket including tea bags, milk . However, we recommend that you shop at Tesco, Carbis Bay on your way into St Ives or even M&S in Hayle.
  • We have a comprehensive information folder and plenty of leaflets on local attractions.

Ground Floor

  • The main entrance into the house as the ground floor is oak floored the sand is not a problem although there is an external hose for feet.
  • The front door is located on St Eia Street and there is a small courtyard area to reach the front door, ideal for the surf board and buckets and spades.
  • The back gated door is located on Teetotal Street this access is only for emergency as it goes into the lounge.
  • The kitchen flooring oak (warm for the feet in the morning).
  • The kitchen has an electric hob with electric double oven under, full size dishwasher, large upright fridge/freezer, microwave, washer dryer, wine fridge, Dualit coffee machine and plenty of crockery, cutlery and glasses for 8/9 guests, including a good stock of childrens plastic cups/bowls/plates and cutlery. There is a full range of cooking utensils and a good choice of† pots / pans / ovenware etc.† There are also cleaning products, enough bin liners, dishwasher tablets etc to get you started. The sink, hob and worktop height is 90cm. The kitchen and lounge/dining room are very adequately lit by downlighters.
  • There is a large dining room table suitable for 8 guests. A high chair for a child is kept under the stairs

First floor

  • The lounge has† two sofaís and one chair to seat 6 guests plus window seat, flat screen LCD TV, DVD and with a small choice of† DVDís.
  • From the lounge/kitchen area the rest off the house is fully carpeted with the exception of the two bathrooms.
  • The landing and Lounge and twin bedroom are carpeted .

Second floor

  • Main Bathroom Fully tiles with WC, Sink and bath with shower over.
  • Double bedroom with King size bed with two bedside tables and lamps, wardrobe and window blind.
  • Three sleeper (Bottom Double bed with single above) chest of draws and wardrobe.

Loft Room

  • Accessed though door from second floor landing, up the stair to the Double bedroom with King size bed with two bedside tables and lamps, wardrobe and window blind.
  • The en-suite shower room has enclosed shower, WC, basin, mirror, and vanity unit.


  • As with most properties in St Ives, the salt lodge does not have a garden.
  • There is a small area outside the house where the beach stuff can be kept.


  • Check-out is strictly by 10am.
  • You are asked to leave the house clean and tidy, any unreasonable additional cleaning required may be charged for.
